Our Funders

Duncan Place SCIO and our funders

Our funders are instrumental to  the success so far, and the future success of Duncan Place.  Below are details of who are funders are.

Big Lottery Fund's Community Assets Funding

The National Lottery Community Fund awarded part of £2.2 million funding handed out to build and refurbish Duncan Place for local people in Leith.

This is one of three projects, funded through the National Lottery Community Fund’s Community Assets programme, and these three are part of a wider package of grants, totalling £5 million, to 21 groups across the country.

Duncan Place was awarded £425270, spread over five years.

Regeneration Capital Grant Fund (RCGF)

The Regeneration Capital Grant Fund, delivered in partnership with COSLA and local government, supports locally developed regeneration projects that involve local communities, helping to support and create jobs and build sustainable communities.

Scotlands Energy Efficiency Programme (SEEP)

Duncan Place are delighted to be included in Scotland’s Energy Efficiency Programme. The City of Edinburgh Council included Duncan Place in its bid to Scottish Governments SEEP phase 2 pilot. 15 local authorities each received a share of this £4.4 million fund to improve energy efficiency in homes, buildings and community projects.

Scottish Government is providing 50% of the funding required for the following low carbon interventions in Duncan Place:

Air Source Heat Pumps

LED Lighting with sensors to ensure energy is not used in empty rooms

Smart controls to maintain a comfortable temperature in occupied rooms

Roof Insulation

Upgrading windows to double glazed

“Being included in SEEP 2 creates jobs during the construction phase and delivers a low carbon energy efficient building for Duncan Place. This of course should also reduce the on-going running costs through savings in our energy bills, meaning more of our money can be allocated for community use. SEEP 2 funding really helps in making Duncan Place a warm, comfortable and sustainable building for the Leith Community.”

City of Edinburgh Council

CEC have supported Duncan Place throughout the Community Asset Transfer process, and with architectural and engineering input throughout the refurbishment .
