Our next Seasonal Stroll is coming up this Thursday 16th July!

Following this week's walk, our last Seasonal Stroll of July will be in two weeks, on Thursday 30th July, both running from 12noon to 1pm.

On each date we'll be strolling around a different location in the neighbourhood. In the past we've covered Leith Links, Leith Orchard, Restalrig Railway Path, Lochend Park and the Shore.

As the warm weather continues, we're really enjoying getting out and about on these gentle hour long walks, having the chance to chat and get some sunshine. There's so much greenery out in Leith now, and so many beautiful flowers! If you're looking for a way to get outside for some light exercise in a relaxed group, then come along!

This group is free to attend, and you don't need to book. We meet at 11:55 in the Duncan Place Community Hub carpark, and head off at 12pm. Our pace is gentle, walking on paths that are well paved and mostly flat. With the temperature continuing to be very warm, please bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated! There is a refill station on Leith Links, and we take regular breaks.

As this is a drop-in group please keep an eye on our socials, if the weather is bad (ie strong wind, very bad rain etc) the group will not go ahead!

On Friday our Craft Group decided to try out some

On Friday our Craft Group decided to try out some cyanotype printing inspired by our new planters! They took flower heads, foliage and dried natural materials and overlaid them onto paper covered in a light-sensitive. They then exposed them under a UV light, resulting in these beautiful ghostly blue prints!

Aren't they gorgeous! 🫐

Our Friday Craft Group meets every week from 10am to 12pm in our Big Duncan room. This group is a self led craft group, where you can come and work on anything crafty that takes your fancy! We have lots of materials to use, but you can also bring along whatever you're working on.

Join us for some musical fun this Thursday 9th Jul

Join us for some musical fun this Thursday 9th July at our fortnightly Music Circle.

Starting at 7:30pm, this group meets for an hour and ends at 8:30pm.

The cost of the group is £3 *or* £5, which you can pay at reception when you arrive by cash or card, or on Eventbrite - just choose the option which best suits your income.

We will be using drums, percussion and easy to play melodic instruments. Come and knock, tap and jingle in a relaxed group for all experience levels!

These sessions are for adults, minimum age 16. All instruments provided!

Duncan Place is fully accessible and the session is held in a ground floor room with low mood lighting. Chairs are arranged in a circle. Carers are always welcome! You can check our Carer’s policy on our website.

As the days get sunnier and warmer, we're really enjoying getting out and about on these gentle hour long walks, having the chance to chat, take in some Vitamin D, and hear the birds sing. There's so much greenery out in Leith now, and so many beautiful flowers! If you're looking for a way to get outside for some light exercise in a relaxed group, then come along!

There's only * one space * left for our next new member session at our Laughter for Health and Happiness Group!

It's hilarious, joyful and a good workout! If you're looking to laugh a bit more, to meet new people, or just to find a new activity that will help you feel healthy and happy, our laughter group is the perfect thing.

We have a new member session on the first session of each month, this falls on this coming Thursday, 2nd July. As this is a popular group, we're prioritising folks who live, work, or volunteer in or around Leith, and can attend regularly.

Our weekly Laughter classes run for an hour on Thursday mornings from 11am. Laughter Consultant and Ambassador Jo Bluett will guide the group through learning to use laughter as a tool to lift mood, manage pain & reduce stress. ❤️❤️❤️

The standard class cost is £6. If you'd like to come along and give it a try, please get in touch by emailing events@duncanplace.org to reserve a space (or you can book on Eventbrite!). Let's have a giggle together! 🤣❤️

TOMORROW! THURSDAY 18TH JUNE!

Know a young person age 7-11 who LOVES Lego? Or maybe they love reading or watching stories about magical worlds and want to bring their own to life? Book a space for them on our Age 7-11 Lego group, coming up this Thursday 18th June at 4:30pm!

This group is held monthly, and costs £1 (which you can pay by cash or card on arrival at reception). We provide all the Lego, they just need to bring their imagination!

This is our last Age 7-11 Lego Group before the school holidays, when we'll be taking a break until the schools return.

Drop in and make your own badge. Draw your own design, or choose from a selection of images, then do your magic with our badge maker machine. Wear your shiny new badge with pride and be the envy of the Gala Day! ✏️

MUSIC CIRCLE with MOVING MUSIC
Make music as a group using the provided drums & percussion. Beginners very welcome! Morag will be on hand to lead the group in funky rhythms. Guaranteed good vibes! 😊
For all ages, but under 16s must be accompanied.

1:15pm - 2:15pm
CRAFT SESSION FOR ADULTS
Join our Friday Morning Craft Group for a mixed craft session for all experience levels. Make paper flowers, hand sewn felt brooches, and try sashiko stitching. Our craft group are just the best! ❤️
Adults aged 16+

2:30pm - 3pm
CHOIR PERFORMANCE
Duncan Place Community Choir will be singing their hearts out sharing songs they’ve been learning with choir leader Seraph this past choir block. They’re such an amazing bunch, and they sound fantastic. Toe tapping will happen! 🎶 For all ages.

👉 As well as the free activities above, we'll have info on Duncan Place, a "Guess The LEGO bricks in the jar comp (with LEGO prize!) and we'll be inviting you to suggest what community events Leith needs!

GALA DAY LOCATION 📍
All being well with the weather (see weather plan below) you'll find us in our big white marquee, on the same patch of grass as the permanent outdoor workout equipment and John Rattray statue. Just across from the tennis courts. 🎾

WEATHER PLAN 🌞 ⛈️
All being well, we’ll be on Leith Links in our big white marquee. Last year, terrible weather meant Gala Day had to stop midway through. If this were to happen this year, we have a backup plan to run our activities inside our community hub across the road: 4 Duncan Place, Leith, EH6 8HW.

🌱 A massive thank you to our planter volunteers for spending a couple of hours yesterday getting lots of veggie plug plants planted, tidying up, and weeding out. 💚 So much growing at the moment!
