Join us for some musical fun this Thursday 14th May at our Music Circle, and here are the other dates for the month!

You might have noticed that a few details about our upcoming Music Circles have changed. Going forward the group will meet for an hour, starting at 7:30pm and ending at 8:30pm.

The cost of the group is now £3 *or* £5, which you can still pay at reception when you arrive by cash or card, or on Eventbrite - just choose the option which best suits your income.

In May the group will run on Thursday 14th and Thursday 28th May. We will be using drums, percussion and easy to play melodic instruments. Come and tap, thump and jingle in a relaxed, low light group for all experience levels!

These sessions are for adults, minimum age 16. All instruments provided!
Duncan Place is fully accessible and the session is held in a ground floor room with low mood lighting. Chairs are arranged in a circle. Carers are always welcome! You can check our Carer’s policy on our website.

Here are our Seasonal Stroll dates coming up in May and June!

We *won't* be holding a walk this week, Thursday 7th May, but after that we'll be back to normal fortnightly dates on Thursday 21st May, and Thursday 4th and 18th June.

On each date we'll be strolling around a different location in the neighbourhood: Lochend Park, Restalrig Railway Path and Leith Links, where we'll stop off at the orchard.

As the days get sunnier and warmer, we're really enjoying getting out and about on these gentle hour long walks, having the chance to chat, take in some Vitamin D, and hear the birds sing. There's so much greenery out in Leith now, and so many beautiful flowers! If you're looking for a way to get outside for some light exercise in a relaxed group, then come along!

This group is free to attend, and you don't need to book. We meet at 11:55 in the Duncan Place Community Hub carpark, and head off at 12pm. Our pace is gentle, walking on paths that are well paved and mostly flat.

What would our lives be without laughter??

If you're looking to laugh a bit more, to meet new people, or just to find a new activity that will help you feel healthy and happy, our laughter group is the perfect thing!

This Thursday 7th May we're throwing the doors open to welcome new members! As we've only a few spaces available, we're prioritising folks who live, work, or volunteer in or around Leith, and can attend regularly.

Our weekly Laughter classes run for an hour on Thursday mornings from 11am. Laughter Consultant and Ambassador Jo Bluett will guide the group through learning to use laughter as a tool to lift mood, manage pain & reduce stress. ❤️❤️❤️

The standard class cost is £6. If you'd like to come along and give it a try, please get in touch by emailing events@duncanplace.org to reserve a space. Honestly... it's a total giggle! 🤣❤️

❤️ Thank you so much to All Aboard for taking such good care of our Laughter group yesterday. What a glorious sunny day to be gliding along the union canal, relaxed, waving at passers by, sharing food, laughter, song, and enjoying the nature and wildlife (ducklings! 😍). We all left feeling happier, healthier, and connected! A perfect afternoon. 🌞

Last week our Friday Craft Group went along to @oo

Last week our Friday Craft Group went along to @ootblueprint for a risograph printing workshop, booked with the funds raised from their craft sale last year!

Mhairi and Johnny introduced the group to the risograph machines, which are similar to photocopiers, but different! The ink they use is made from rice bran oil, a waste product from Japan's rice industry, so they have a far lower impact on the environment than other types of printing. The printers are also super fast, and can print in loads of bright colours!

We started by collaging and drawing to make our stencils, which we then scanned into the printer, to come out in a rainbow of colours on different papers! It was really interesting to see how the different inks layered on top of each other to make new colours!

A big thanks to Mhairi and Johnny for a wonderful workshop!

Thanks to our walking group who did a mini litter

Thanks to our walking group who did a mini litter pick on our walk on Restalrig Railway Path today. It's amazing the difference just 30 minutes can make. It was lovely to chat with passers by, and someone even helped out and gave us a hand! Thank you! 💕

Tomorrow, Thursday 23rd April we have our monthly

Tomorrow, Thursday 23rd April we have our monthly adult Lego group!

Starting at 7pm and running until 8:30pm, this group is a great chance to get creative and enjoy some downtime.

Coming to the group costs £1, you can pay by cash or card at reception when you get here, and if you’d like to let us know you’re coming you can book a space on eventbrite (link in bio).

We hold this session in our Big Links room, at a large table where we provide all the Lego you’ll need (we have loads)! We have the bright lights on, and we provide a hot drink during the session. Our building is wheelchair accessible.

We'll be walking round Restalrig Railway Path, and doing a mini-litter pick on the path, on Thursday 23rd April, 12 noon til 1:30pm. Come along if you're free and would like to get some fresh air, gentle exercise, meet new people, and tidy up a little part of nature!

Meet outside Duncan Place Community Hub at 11:55am.

We'll walk halfway round Restalrig Railway Path (starting from the Easter Road end) and then do a mini-litter pick for 30 minutes on the pathway underneath Lochend Road (for those that opt in to that). We'll bring all the litter picking gear. The spot we've identified is next to a bench, so folks can have a seat if needed.

Rough timings:
11:55am - meet at Duncan Place
12 noon-12:20 - walk round Restalrig Railway Path from the Easter Rd side.
12:20-12:50 - mini litter pick on railway path under Lochend Road.
12:50-1:30pm - walk round the rest of railway path to Duncan Place via Leith Links.

This is part of our regular walks (Seasonal Strolls) where we head out on walks on Leith Links and the surrounding areas. They're free to come along and you don't need to book. After this walk, we'll next be out on Thursday 21st May, walking along to Lochend Park to see what's happening at the pond. Same times and meeting point (11:55am outside Duncan Place).

(walks are usually fortnightly, but there won't be a walk on Thu 7th May)

Our extremely popular D&D group for ages S2 - S6 i

Our extremely popular D&D group for ages S2 - S6 is BACK THIS FRIDAY 24th APRIL, after three weeks off over the school holidays.🧙‍♂️

Running for the next 9 weeks, up until Friday 19th June, the group will be on every week until the summer holidays - plenty of time for a young person to get stuck into a campaign and learn all they need to know for a summer of adventuring!

This group is for young people aged S2-S6 (up to age 17) and runs from 3pm - 5pm on Friday afternoons, cost £2 per session. You can book a young person into the group by sending an email to * events@duncanplace.org * - and they can start as early as this week! 🏰

These sessions are delivered by our wonderful neighbours @ancientrobotgames at Duncan Place Community Hub. We hold these sessions in our Big Duncan room, which is large and bright, with players sat around 4 tables.
