We can't believe it! Time has flown and our wonder

We can't believe it! Time has flown and our wonderful community choir is 3 years old!

👉 And for our next block, we're opening up a few spaces to join😮🎶😮🎶😮🎶

The choir meet every Tuesday evening from 7pm till 8:45pm for 8 weeks. Our upcoming 8-week choir block will run from Tuesday 20th October until Tuesday 8th December, and the block costs £45 which is paid in advance before the block starts.

If you'd like to join a friendly bunch of folks in your community to sing together, led by our fantastic, enthusiastic choir leader Seraph, then this is the choir for you!

We welcome all singers aged 18 and over, whether you’re a complete beginner or seasoned singer. There are no auditions, and everything is learned by ear, you do not need to read music.

We sing acapella enjoying a range of material from folk, soul, pop, gospel and traditional songs in other languages. Songs that celebrate community, nature and humanity feature highly in the repertoire.

Singing in a choir can be a wonderful boost to your health and wellbeing. It’s a proven way to reduce stress levels and a great way to meet new people.

If you'd like to join, or find out more, please email us at events@duncanplace.org. Please be aware that spaces are limited, as this is a very popular group.

!!! BIG NEWS !!!

We have some rare spaces available on our Thursday chair yoga class!

From 12:30 - 1:30pm every Thursday, it's chair yoga time in Big Duncan. Run by our brilliant chair yoga instructor Yonine, each class costs £4. As this is such a popular class, we're looking for people to join who are local to the area and who can commit to coming regularly.

This class is a chair modified yoga class suitable for all ages and experience levels, giving chair-based variations on classic poses. It can help with maintaining strength, balance and flexibility and is a nice busy group where you can focus on gentle flows of movement, some meditation and relaxation.

Our Monday class is still full, so if you have been wanting to try our chair yoga classes for a while - this is your chance! These classes are super popular, so we don't expect these spaces to be available for long and there's only a few!

If you'd like to enquire about a space, send us an email at events@duncanplace.org.

We are so excited to finally share the details of

We are so excited to finally share the details of our upcoming community cinema programme with you, which will be starting a bit later this year in January 2027. Tickets are now available to buy on Ticketlab. Scroll through for details about each film, and we've included a bit of info on each below!

The Golden Spurtle 🥣 Tuesday 12th January, 7pm
We think you're going to love this film! A favourite among community cinemas and audiences since it's premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in August, this documentary about the community of Carrbridge as they prepare for their annual World Porridge Making Championship is full to the brim with gentle humour and brilliant storytelling. Ot has just come back from attending the Championships in person and was blown away by how well the film captured the excitement and joy of the day. Who knew porridge could be so exciting!

Short Documentaries 🎥 Saturday 13th February, 2pm
For this screening we'll be showing 6 fantastic short documentaries made by new filmmakers on the @scottishdocinstitute 2026 Bridging the Gap programme. All 6 films are fantastic and really varied! Your feedback was so brilliant for this event last year, and it was so popular, that we had to do it again this year.

Nae Pasaran! ✈️ Thursday 18th March, 7pm
In the Spring we showed Felipe Bustos Sierra's Everybody to Kenmure Street, which came out this year and was extremely popular. Nae Pasaran! is his previous film, which follows the story of 1974-1978 boycott in an East Kilbride factory, where Rolls-Royce workers refused to work on Chilean warplane engines, grounding half of Pinochet's airforce during his brutal dictatorship. The documentary catches up with some of the workers involved, and they find out the incredible impact of their actions.

Tickets are available to buy now through the link in bio! We recommend booking early as we are expecting all of these screenings to sell out and we never sell tickets on the door.

Once more we've received funding for this programme from The City of Edinburgh Council through @whale__arts Local Cinema Network.

Are you interested in getting involved with some g

Are you interested in getting involved with some gardening? Learning more about edible plants, how to grow them and what you can grow outside in Scotland? Would you just like to get your hands in some soil, or even share your own knowledge of gardening and plants with others?

We are looking for more members for our planter project! Earlier this year, we received some funding from @edinburghccan to buy some lovely planters and plants. Thanks to the hard work of our fabulous community members, we started to transform our previously grey carpark into a beautiful green space with opportunities for us to share gardening skills and knowledge, learn about growing, and get access to much needed time outside.

We've now done all the groundwork and trialled growing lettuce, flowers, herbs, kale and even broccoli in our planters. Looking towards the winter, we're thinking about what plants we can grow through the colder months that are not only edible but bright and colourful as well!

The group meets fortnightly on Wednesdays at 10:30am. We have a cuppa and a chat while we tend to the plants. Often there will be plants to harvest and lots to take home! We're looking for more people to join the group to share ideas, skills, and help with planting, growing and upkeep of our planters. Could it be you? What would you plant in September and October?

Send us an email to events@duncanplace.org to find out more!

Massive thank you to @allaboardedinburgh once agai

Massive thank you to @allaboardedinburgh once again for taking such good care of our Laughter for Health & Happiness group today. The other half of the class took a trip back in April, and we were lucky again to be gifted with lovely weather today. Floating on down the canal, chatting, sharing food, enjoying nature, and taking a break from the busy city streets. We would highly recommend any community groups to get in touch with @allaboardedinburgh They're fantastic! The volunteers made us feel at ease and at home. ❤️

We have a lot of love for our Laughter group who will turn 4 next month; one of our longest running groups! They're really a fantastic bunch, and there was much laughter shared this afternoon, as there is every Thursday morning in Duncan Place. Interested in joining the class? Get in touch with us for more information at events@duncanplace.org
