Buses
Duncan Place is a few minutes’ walk from Leith Walk, Duke Street, Great Junction Street and Easter Road. This area is very well served with buses, including 1, 7, 14, 16, 21, 25, 34, 35 & 49.

Trams
The tram stops at the Foot of Leith Walk / Constitution Street. This is a few minutes walk away.

(This does not mean mobility scooters)
- Bikes & scooters, etc are not allowed in the building.
- Bike racks (covered by CCTV) are available in our outdoor space.
- Please bring a secure lock. We do not have any to loan out.
- Bikes and scooters are left at your own risk.
- Duncan Place will not accept any responsibility for any damage or theft.

Assistance dog facilities
- Leith Links is a large green space/park which is directly across the road from our building.
- We can provide water for assistance dogs on request.
Please see the Carer's Policy.
It is very likely that the room is booked by someone else, so all the time needed must be included in your booking.
- Room access is from the time booked.
- Rooms must be vacated by the end of the time booked.
- Running over affects other people's bookings and is not acceptable.
- To be fair to all room bookers, please plan and manage your event to fit the timeslot booked.
- Please have a think about when you and your attendees will arrive and leave, and be sure to include this.
- This ensures your event is not affected by others, and theirs is not affected by yours.
We do not provide catering; however, you are welcome to have catering delivered.
Please let us know the supplier and the expected delivery time.
There may be several events on. This ensures the correct food goes to the correct event!
We can provide:
- Hot water urns with mugs
- Jugs of water with glasses
- A selections of cutlery and crockery
- Please bring your own tea, coffee, milk, etc

We like to support fellow social enterprises where possible. Our favourites are:
There is a defibrillator at reception.
As per the booking T&Cs, the let holder should:
- Have adequate first aid training, supplies and equipment for their event.
- Have a means to contact the emergency service should additional medical support be required.
- Ensure that all people participating in their let are aware of the let holder's first aid provisions.
Duncan Place is not liable for first aid arrangements for other organisations or individuals.
As per the booking T&Cs, the let holder should:
- Undertake a full risk assessment of their let.
- Review and update it regularly.
- Ensure all risks are managed or mitigated.
- Please see our general guidance for more details.
As per the booking T&Cs, the let holder should:
- Complete a PEEP for any participants who may need assistance to evacuate safely.
- Make the arrangements identified in the PEEP.
- Review and update the PEEP regularly.
A PEEP may be required for people with:
- Mobility limitations (permanent or temporary)
- Visual or hearing impairments
- Language barriers
- Special communication needs
- Additional support needs
It is the responsibility of the let holder to obtain all required insurance, licences, permits and permissions required relating to their let, at the let holder’s cost.
Employers Liability Insurance
This is legally required if your event includes the use of volunteers or paid staff.
Public Liability Insurance.
This is legally required when holding events open to the public (see Hirers Extension info)
Hirers Extension to Public Liability Insurance.
- Subject to agreement, Duncan Place may be able to provide Hirers' Public Liability Cover.
- This is available to registered charities, voluntary organisations, not-for-profit groups and individuals.
- It is not possible to provide this to political, lobbying & activist groups.
- A request to be added should be made at the time of booking.
- Conditions and exclusions apply.
- Agreement is not guaranteed.
- If agreed, all documentation must be in place prior to the start of the event.
- If agreed, the hirers extension applies for events in Duncan Place and only for the duration of the let.
- Hirers’ Public Liability Extension may not be sufficient to meet your insurance needs, and you should consider obtaining advice from an insurance advisor about having your own insurance policy.
