Did you know we run Tai Chi Chuan classes as part of our community events programme? We have a couple of spaces available on both our Wed evening 8pm 'Advanced Beginners' and our Thursday morning 9:15am Advanced classes, starting next week. We're so lucky to have Emma Young teach these classes for us. Emma has over 30 years experience of Tai Chi, and we've had the most lovely feedback about Emma's teaching style. ℹ️ Advanced Beginners.
Wednesdays 8pm.
Suitable for folks that are familiar with the basics of Tai Chi, or returning to practice after a break. Not suitable for complete beginners.
£40 for 8-week block paid in advance.
No class on April 1st, so block dates are: March 11th, 18th, 25th, April 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, and May 6th.

This Thursday 5th March at 7:30pm... it's Music Circle time in Leith.
Do you love percussion and making impromptu music? Have you always wanted to try playing drums, or other percussive instruments as a group? Come along and try your hand at playing with sound and rhythm with Morag from Moving Music. Good vibes guaranteed!

It's just £3 a session (card or cash), and you don't need to book - just come along. All instruments are provided. Adults (min age 16). Beginners welcome!

March/April dates: 5th March, 19th March, 2nd April, 16th April, 30th April. All 7:30pm til 8:45pm.

We're really looking forward to March, because with it comes our 'Intro to Clay' two part workshop, which will be facilitated by the wonderful Keisha Rowe.

We've previously run a version of this workshop with Keisha in 2024, and we've included a few examples of some of the beautiful vessels that were made during those sessions. Aren't they gorgeous!

Running as a two-part workshop from 11am - 1:30pm on Saturday 7th and Saturday 14th March, join Keisha in exploring basic hand-building and armature techniques using air-dry clay. You will learn various construction methods, including pinch pots, coiling, and slab building.

You will also learn about contemporary artists working with clay and apply your new skills to create a larger vessel inspired by their work, or experiment to create your own unique piece!

If you are new to working with clay and looking to learn skills to get you started, these sessions will provide a strong foundation if you choose to go on to work with kiln-fired ceramics. These sessions are also great for those who have some previous experience and are looking for a refresher, or if you are looking to try something completely new and want to make a beautiful object for your home in a low pressure environment!

Please note that working with air dry clay is for decorative use only. As it doesn't go into a kiln, it isn't food safe or waterproof once dry. However, it is an excellent material for practicing and learning foundational hand-building techniques, and for making things like trinket bowls or candle holders!

No previous experience is necessary - this class is ideal for beginners and will encourage positivity and creativity in a laid-back atmosphere, whilst also being guided and supported by a tutor to explore your ideas.

This event costs £40, which covers two sessions, all materials, and hot drinks. These workshops for adults aged 18+, and sessions are seated in a room on the ground floor. Duncan Place Community Hub, including our event rooms, is wheelchair accessible, with a wheelchair accessible toilet on the ground floor, and one disabled parking space.

This Thursday (26th February) we have our fortnigh

This Thursday (26th February) we have our fortnightly Seasonal Strolls group. This week, we'll be walking around Leith Links. This is a gentle walking group from 12noon to 1pm. We will be walking on mostly flat ground. This is a great chance for us to get out into some fresh air, have a chat and get some light exercise in a relaxed environment. It looks like the crocuses and snowdrops are out, and we might even spot some daffodils!

In the coming weeks we have a few different activities planned. On 12th March we will have Ollie Benton joining us for a one-off photo workshop walk, which will run at an extended time of 12noon - 1:30pm. On 23rd April, we will be holding a mini litter pick during our stroll, again for an extended time of 12noon - 1:30pm, as it will be Spring Clean Scotland! We'll be cleaning up the area around the Restalrig Railway Path.

Lego for ages 7-11 is back this Thursday, 26th February!

From 4:30pm to 6pm, young Lego fans can immerse themselves in a world of colourful bricks! We provide all the Lego, young people just need to bring themselves and their enthusiasm for building!

If you know a young person aged 7-11 who'd like to come along, book them a space on our Eventbrite (link in bio!). It costs £1 to attend the group, which can be paid at the session.

This Thursday, come out of the rain to our Lego us

This Thursday, come out of the rain to our Lego user group for adults! We'll provide the Lego and a cuppa, just bring yourself and your creativity! 🌈

Our adult Lego group runs once a month on a Thursday, in our Wee Links room at Duncan Place Community Hub. These sessions run from 7pm to 8:30pm, and are seated in a room with bright lighting (so we can see what we're doing!). We normally have a hot drink and a wee blether while we build. If you're looking for a Lego group in Edinburgh or Leith, this group could for you!

If you'd like to come along, head over to our Eventbrite and book your space! You can pay for the session (only £1!) by cash or card at reception at the start of the session.

Duncan Place Community Hub is a wheelchair accessible building and all our community events are on the ground floor, with the main door accessed by a ramp. There is a wheelchair accessible toilet on the ground floor.

Community Music Circle is coming up again THIS THU

Community Music Circle is coming up again THIS THURSDAY 19th February! We will gather to play hand drums and other percussive instruments in a relaxed, informal group in our Big Links room.

7:30-8:45pm
Thursday 19th February
£3 - just come along and pay at reception, or book on our eventbrite!

These sessions are seated, with chairs arranged in a circle and low, soft lighting. All instruments are provided. 🪘🪘🪘
