Pass The Book at Duncan Place

Our welcoming group shares stories, poems, and other literature in a relaxed and supportive space. We pass the book texts around and take turns to read aloud, or pass it on if you’d rather just listen. Join us to discover contemporary and classic Scottish and international writing, with six themed nights over the year:

• Monday 23rd October 2023 - Haunting Tales for Hallowe'en
• Monday 4th December 2023 - Season's Readings
• Monday 19th February 2024 - Songstress to Makar: 300 Years of Scottish Poetry
• Monday 29th April 2024 - Selkies, Kelpies & Bogles: Scottish Myth and Folklore
• Monday 3rd June 2024 - Literary Leith
• Monday 19th August 2024 - Edinburgh: Festival City

Up next on Monday 29th April, Selkies Kelpies & Bogles will dig deep into the rich lore of Scotland, exploring how our history and landscape have helped form the myths that still resonate today. From water-sprites to beasties that flit by night, meet the ancient creatures of Scotland, and help tell their weird tales for the modern day.

The book group will be led by local community member Jack Tarlton, who will prepare texts for the group to share.
