An afternoon of film, photographs, and discussion, exploring historic moments of Leith.
We have curated a selection of archive film footage of Leith in the 1950s and 1960s, which includes themes of social housing, gala day celebrations, playground games and song. This footage is around 60 minutes in total and has been licensed from the National Library of Scotland's Moving Image Archive.
Thanks to Leith Festival, we have some archive photographs of Leith Gala Day, newspaper clippings, and old programmes from the 1990s and 2000s to delve into.
We'll also have some physical items from the Wee Museum of Memories to pass around to spark memories and stories from the past.
All of the above, accompanied by free tea and cake for folks to tuck into as we discuss some of the treasures we explore.
If you've lived in (or visited) Leith for years, this is a chance to recognise places and streets as they once were, or maybe recognise a familiar face. If you're new to Leith, this is a great way to learn about and explore some of its history through media and conversation. There will be something for everyone to connect with, reminisce, or learn about.
