Sessions are well-attended, so please email us at events@duncanplace.org to check availability, book a spot, and avoid any disappointment

The world can feel a little overwhelming right now, and now more than ever many of us are experiencing anxiety. In these monthly sessions, we’ll work at a relaxed pace to explore art forms that help to soothe anxiety. Each session will aim to give you a new tool to use in anxious moments.

No experience is necessary and all materials are supplied.

These sessions are planned so it works for participants to attend just one or all sessions. You won’t have missed out if you can't come to the session before, however, those who have can build on their existing skills.

It's free to come along, however, booking is required for each session as spaces are limited. As they are really popular, if something changes and you can no longer make it, please cancel your booking or get in touch so that someone else can benefit from coming along.

These sessions are for people aged 18 and over.

We're delighted to be able to run these workshops throughout 2024 thanks to funding from the Creative Community Hubs Community Commissioning Grant.

Heather Art for Anxiety

About Heather:

Heather Marshall (she/her) is a queer, disabled, multi award winning, socio political artist and writer. She often works under the company name Creative Electric where she creates theatre and live art with and for people that may not traditionally engage in the arts due to social and/or financial barriers.

The first lockdown in March 2020 saw her focus on creating street art as a means to communicate with her local community which led to her creating My Aunties a Vandal, an art project for young people using video and illustrated story sheets, that explored alternative methods of communication. https://www.imaginate.org.uk/artists/projects/ideas-fund-my-aunties-a-vandal

She now has an established tape art practice which allows her to create interactive and removable street art provocations. Her tape art work can be found throughout Edinburgh and participants of tape art workshops are now creating their own work across the world.

Heather has created work for local, national and international organisations including Edinburgh International Festival, National Theatre of Scotland, ITAC 4 New York, ITAC5 Seoul, BOP, Imaginate, LeithLate, Stoff Stockholm, Touretteshero, BAC, Dance Base, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and The Fruitmarket Gallery.

Throughout all these connections she has focused on elevating and celebrating voices that may not traditionally be heard within their communities.
